Junttan PM26 rigs in Polish LNG terminal work

The Polish government is building a new LNG (= Liquid Natural Gas) terminal. The terminal is being constructed at Swinoujscie near Szczecin in the western part of Poland's Baltic coast (West Pomeranian region).

The city of Aalborg has decided to build a music hall for the city. Realdania is funding the building of a new ambitious music hall in the northern part of Jutland. Austrian architecture firm COOP Himmelb(l)au has designed the innovative construction.

Hydraulically operated railroad hoist – Piling foundations for the steel lattice bridge

The piling work for the Kallansillat/Tikkalansaari railroad on Highway 5 between Päiväranta and Kuopio

Extensive reconstruction work of the Kallansillat bridges is taking place to the north of the city of Kuopio. The project, which was commissioned by the Road Investments Unit of the Finnish Transport Agency, Liikennevirasto, began in October 2009. In the project, approximately five kilometers of Highway 5 between Päiväranta and Vuorela is being transformed into a motorway, a total of 26 bridges are to be repaired or constructed, along with a service road of some 7 kilometers, some 1.5 kilometers of new railroads, and three interchanges are being built.

At ThyssenKrupp CSA Siderúrgica do Atlântico (TKCSA) worksite in Santa Cruz, metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, 120 pile driving equipments are working 24 hours a day carrying the piling and all the foundation works – the largest on shore foundation construction site in the world. Among these machines there are 5 hydraulic hammers and 2 pile driving rigs from the Finnish company Junttan.

Aarsleff expands with Junttan

Aarsleff Piling has expanded its comprehensive fleet of driven piling equipment with the purchase of a Finnish Junttan PM26 LC piling rig complete with 9t Junttan accelerated hammer. The acquisition and fleet expansion is in direct response to Aarsleff’s sustained increase in demand for its services and especially in the renewable energy sector. Here there is a growing requirement for much larger precast concrete piles up to 400 mm square section needed to accommodate the high cyclical loadings generated by wind turbines.

Cementation Foundations Skanska piles into multipurpose Junttan

The cooperation and close working relationship over many years between the UK specialist piling contractor Cementation Foundations Skanska (CFS) and hydraulic foundations equipment manufacturer Junttan Oy, has proved to be a considerable advantage to both parties. Initially the numerous changes CFS made to the standard piling rigs to suit their operations are now incorporated by Junttan during manufacture at the factory and are also a benefit to other Junttan customers including potential CFS competitors.

Aarsleff lands at Lissett

Aarsleff Piling has landed the piling that will provide the foundation support for a £38M wind farm on a former Second World War aerodrome at Lissett, a few miles south of the eastern coastal town of Bridlington, East Yorkshire. The precast concrete piles will support 12 turbines at the old airfield, which was the onetime base for the RAF’s 158 squadron flying Handley Page Halifax bombers. Shortly after the war Lissett airfield was returned to agricultural use and later included a small industrial park.

Stent's Junttan PM23LC Exceeds Expectations

The first and currently only Junttan PM23LC fixed leader self erecting piling rig in the UK has exceeded the expectations of owner and piling contractor Stent Foundations. The company bought the hydraulically operated rig, with its extensive mast manoeuvrability, specifically to modernise and replace its crane mounted suspended leader rigs, which are now about 30 years old. There were some initial concerns that the new 60 t rig would be too large, but these have proved unfounded following the successful completion of a variety of different contracts.

UK's first steel piled onshore wind turbines for Aarsleff

The UK’s first onshore wind turbines to be supported on tubular steel piled foundations will form part of a new wind farm being built in County Durham. A backfilled and reinstated former opencast coal site near Tow Law is being transformed by Banks Developments into the 24MW West Durham Wind Farm, supplying renewable energy into the national grid with five of the 12 turbines supported on drill casing recycled from the oil industry.
